“Social Network” Producers Sign on for “Fifty Shades of Grey”

Giving one of the most talked about film adaptions some major credibility, the producers behind the Oscar-nominated The Social Network are set to reunite for the film adaption of the racy Fifty Shades of Grey!

Universal Pictures announced in a joint statement that Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti will produce the movie version of the best selling E.L. James “mom porn” novel.

The statement reads: “At its core, Fifty Shades of Grey is a complex love story, requiring a delicate and sophisticated hand to bring it to the big screen. Mike and Dana’s credits more than exemplify what we need in creative partners, and we’re glad to have them as part of our team.”

The official casting is still way off, according to James, who wrote on Twitter last week, “We are so far away from casting the Fifty films,” the writer posted. “No-one ruled is out… no one is ruled in. Just so you know.”

While the world awaits to see who will play the coveted roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, OMG! Samantha has compiled a list of possible canditates for the role of the hunky entrepreneur. Personally, we love the thought of Ian Somerhalder or Matt Bomer as the lead!

Universal nabbed the rights to the Fifty Shades trilogy for US$5 million in March after an intense bidding war. The books, about an innocent college student who gets drawn into a BDSM relationship with an attractive bilionaire, have sold 31 million e-book and print copies worldwide, making it the fastest-selling paperback of all time.
