They’re the hottest thing in pop music these days thanks to their huge female fan base worldwide, and One Direction recently gave an interview to the Today show to talk about their success.

During the conversation, the “What Makes You Beautiful” hitmakers discussed the fact that they’re the only British band to debut at #1 on the Billboard charts.

The boys explained, “It’s insane. It’s mental. I think it’s strange having that comparison when you think those bands haven’t done that and they’re such huge icons. For us to be able to something that hasn’t been done before is obviously a massive achievement. So it’s amazing.”

The 1D lads also chatted about which members are in relationships, how their new album is coming, and their “boy band” label.
