Avengers assemble!

With the huge success of The Avengers, Disney announced today that Joss Whedon will return to both write and direct the sequel The Avengers 2.

Whedon is credited for making the first installment of the hugely successful Marvel superhero movie make over $1.5 billion worldwide and become the third best selling movie of all time, behind Avatar and The Titanic.

The sequel will once again follow Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner)

And if that wasn’t enough, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator will also return to his television roots by developing a live-action TV series featuring Marvel characters.

As for what it will be about and who will star, it’s all speculation for now!
